Viridarium

Various flat paintings are shown as if props on a theatre set. Whenever someone moves, strange sounds are triggered — translated frequencies captured in space into sounds withing our hearing range. An island on the floor is outlined with green LEDs. The large canvas painting seems like the source from which several parts were stolen and rearranged into this island. The picture invades the physical space and our senses. The eeriness of sounds and the strange assortment of objects further heighten the surreal and out-of-place-ness of the whole installation, making the viewer feel him/herself as an outsider as well — like a stranger in a strange place.
Viridarium
Installation composed of several different sculptures made of gesso on wood, cardboard and papier-mâché, painted with oil, oil pastel and spray paint; mylar and tape, cotton and polyester fabric, LED strip lights, light filter, astro turf, spotlights and oil on canvas.
